Pep Guardiola has once again failed to survive the quarter-finals with Manchester City in the Champions League this season. He seemed almost at a loss at the press conference after losing in the quarter-finals against Olympique Lyon (1: 3) – and fueled the rumors about a possible exit from the Citizens.
And Yaya Touré, a former player under Pep Guardiola, now publicly questioned the 49-year-old.
“The coach was only brought in to win trophies – and if you look at Liverpool and other clubs that have done it without doing much in the transfer market, it’s strange and disappointing,” said the former midfielder at Football Daily.
As with Bayern, Guardiola can also boast good trophies at City in the domestic league. Only with the premier class has it been a problem for years. In three years with Munich and now with Manchester City since 2016, Guardiola always had to pack her bags early in the Champions League.

“Of course Pep is a great coach, but at the moment when things aren’t going as they should, maybe it’s time to change something, we’ll see,” added Toure.
But a possible departure from the Citizens Guardiola’s advisor Josep Maria Orobitg clearly denied: “Yes, Pep continues with City 100 percent.” Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City runs until 2021.
