Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced young superheroes at a faster pace since The Saga of Infinity finished with Avengers: Endgame. Wasting no time, the franchise immediately introduced twins Maximoff, Wiccan, and Speed in WandaVisionthen brought in Jack Veal as Kid Loki Loki. Hailee Steinfield had an impactful introduction in Hawk Eye as Kate Bishop and now Iman Vellani is set to join this vast cinematic universe as Kamala Khan/Ms. Wonder. Along with these wonderful introductions, Xochitl Gomez also sneaks into the world of superheroes as America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
With all of these young kids showing up with their unique superpowers, the franchise is likely headed for an inevitable Young Avengers team. While Marvel Studios hasn’t provided any updates or direct references to such a project being planned, America Chavez actress Xochitl Gomez believes the team is on her mind.
Talk to ComicBook.com During a recent press conference to promote the film, Gomez revealed which members she would like to join in a Young Avengers project. She says:
Of course, Kate Bishop and I are thinking about Loki because I want to see how that can play out.
In the comics, the Young Avengers are a team of teenage superheroes, some from families of former Marvel superheroes. The team, much like the Avengers, fights existential threats to the planet, keeping the legacy of their former idols intact. There might not be much about Young Avengers teased in the MCU by name, Marvel Studios is slowly building the hype for the same, and it might not be long before the team only slowly embarks on a crossover event.
Young Avengers in the MCU?

The idea of such a project may not be as far-fetched as it seems. Yes, there are tons of characters and stories for Marvel to tap into before these kids’ journeys lead to them becoming Earth’s Mightiest Superheroes. However, Marvel has already introduced several characters in the Young Avengers comic book iteration.
Kate Bishop is, of course, a prominent member. There’s Tommy and Billy, aka Speed and Wiccan respectively, as well as their “father”, Vision, who was also a member of the team despite not being a teenager. America Chavez is only four days away from her introduction to the MCU. Additionally, Kid Loki, who doesn’t yet have a prominent role in the MCU, is also a vital member of the team. In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we met Eli Bradley who becomes Patriot in the comics. A surprising member of the team is Nathaniel Richards, aka Iron Lad, founding member of the team, who later becomes the villain, Kang the Conqueror. Fans will meet Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawhich will also feature fellow Young Avengers member Stature, aka Cassie Lang.
Additionally, along with Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams/Ironheart is also set to make her MCU debut soon in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Both may not be original members of the Young Avengers in the comics, but MCU can give them a shot at being part of the team. And there’s nothing impossible with the MCU, especially at the stage it is at now.
What do you think of Xochitl Gomez’s desire to have a Young Avengers project in the MCU?
