Bordeaux and Hwang Ui-jo offer Strasbourg in a crazy match, Rennes fall to Clermont

After Nice’s beautiful and precious victory against FC Metz (2-0), the 22nd day of Ligue 1 continued on this Sunday in January. Surprising fourth in this Ligue 1, Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace wanted to temporarily return to 2 points behind Olympique de Marseille (3rd) with a victory. For this, it was necessary to get rid of Bordeaux (19th) which is playing its survival in the elite and has had a complicated last few weeks. At the start of the match, the Alsatians took control of the ball and tried to gently deploy their game. In place, the Girondins responded with well-assured transitions. Thus, Rémi Oudin obtained a first attempt which was narrowly blocked at the entrance to the area (13th). Strasbourg left spaces in their defense and Rémi Oudin on the left delivered a vicious cross in front of goal which surprised the Alsatians. Hwang Ui-jo emerged and scored with a recovery that lodged on the left of the goal (1-0, 17th). Strasbourg responded tit for tat with Adrien Thomasson whose right shot slipped away on the right (20th). Nevertheless, Bordeaux again showed efficiency and Rémi Oudin found Alberth Elis who converted with a cross shot (2-0, 21st).

Bordeaux resists and thanks Hwang, Clermont traps Rennes

Bordeaux cornered their opponent and with a sublime curling shot to the left of the goal, Hwang Ui-jo again crucified Mats Sels to offer himself a double (3-0, 39th). While the match seemed almost folded, Kevin Gameiro took charge of relaunching the meeting before the break with a nice volley (3-1, 43rd). In the second half, Strasbourg came back with good intentions. Ludovic Ajorque with a header pushed Gaëtan Poussin to the save (54th) while a few minutes later, Sanjin Prcić played Yacine Adli and slipped a ball on the right of the area for Kevin Gameiro who scored (3-2, 57th) . Everything was restarted and Strasbourg multiplied the centers towards the surface to force the decision. If Ricardo Mangas fell on Matz Sels (80th), Abdul Majeed Waris equalized, but his goal was disallowed for offside (81st). While the Girondins suffered, Hwang Ui-jo saved the club with the scapular by offering himself a hat-trick (4-2, 90th). Abdul Majeed Waris scored in the final seconds anecdotally (4-3, 90th +7). A salutary success for Bordeaux which leaves the red zone and goes back to seventeenth place with a point ahead of Metz which is the barrage. Strasbourg remains fourth and misses the mark.

Fifth, Stade Rennais moved to the Stade Gabriel-Montpied to face a Clermont team in the midst of a fight for maintenance. The Auvergnats were the first to be dangerous with the winter reinforcement Lucas Da Cunha whose shot went over the Rennes goal (6th). The locals started well and Elbasan Rashani found the head of Pierre-Yves Hamel, but the deflection of the latter missed the target (14th). Rennes responded quickly with a small number from Martin Terrier whose shot was repelled by Ouparine Djoco (15th). The Clermont goalkeeper then disgusted Gaëtan Laborde whose volley took the path of the left skylight (18th). Finally, Rennes took the lead on a corner on the right side deflected with a header by Baptiste Santamaria into the small left net (1-0, 19th). With the exception of a small opportunity from Elbasan Rashani (23rd), Rennes dominated his subject, like a new opportunity from Benjamin Bourigeaud (27th). In the lead at the break, the Bretons came back well with a heavy strike from Gaëtan Laborde who passed over the frame (48th) before lowering his foot. This benefited Clermont who was slowly coming back. On the left, Elbasan Rashani crossed towards the far post, but Loïc Badé deviated in the axis. Lucas Da Cunha followed well and adjusted the goalkeeper on the right (1-1, 60th). Totally revived, Clermont fully regained hope and Jordan Tell was going to punish the Bretons on a new good job by Elbasan Rashani (2-1, 71st). Resistant until the end of the match, Clermont offers the scalp of Rennes and takes two points ahead of the red zone. The Bretons remain fifth and stall with a fourth loss in five matches.

Nantes sinks Lorient, Angers blows against Troyes

Located in the soft underbelly, FC Nantes could move away almost definitively from the red zone and crossed swords with Lorient the roadblocker. A match quickly taken by the leap ends by the Canaries with a strike from Randal Kolo Muani (6th). Quentin Merlin then went there with his shot (12th) while Randal Kolo Muani saw his header being narrowly captured by Paul Nardi (14th). Now the game in the Merlus camp, Nantes continued their solid start to the match and Ludovic Blas in turn tested Paul Nardi (34th). By dint of falling back, Lorientais conceded a good free kick in front of his area when Quentin Merlin was sandwiched by Houboulang Mendes and Jérôme Hergault (37th). On a powerful free kick at ground level which passed under the wall and lodged on the left of the goal, Andrei Girotto gave the advantage to the team of Antoine Kombouaré (1-0, 39th). In the lead at the break, FC Nantes, came back from the locker room and on a tumble on the left of the surface Randal Kolo Muani surprised Paul Nardi (2-0, 53rd). A short-lived joy since Lorient took advantage of a mess via Terem Moffi to regain hope (2-1, 56th). A gleam quickly extinguished by the shot of Osman Bukari on the right of the surface deflected under the bar by Moritz Jenz (3-1, 69th). The match became totally crazy and Sambou Soumano revived Lorient at the end of the match (3-2, 85th). Once again, Nantes responded quickly and Willem Geubbels gave the Canaries a break (4-2, 86th). Nantes wins 4-2 and finds itself eighth, three points from the top 4. Lorient drops to 19th place.

Finally, the match between Angers and Troyes was intended to be balanced. Gérald Baticle’s men were in a bad dynamic after having started the season well while Bruno Irlès’ team still had to adapt to their new coach. After an intense and balanced start to the match, Gerson Rodrigues accelerated and found Brandon Domingués in the box. The latter did it twice in order to score (1-0, 11th). If Troyes was good in this match, Angers responded via Batista Mendy who made a festival before serving Angelo Fulgini in an ideal position. The latter was countered when hitting (17th). The Angevin revolt was set up and following a foul by Yoann Salmier on Bilal Brahimi in his area, Thomas Mangani converted the penalty (1-1, 26th). A Trojan error which hid a new one a few minutes later when Giulian Biancone hooked Mathias Pereira Lage in his area. Thomas Mangani once again transformed the sentence (2-1, 37th). In addition to an opportunity on both sides via Mathias Pereira Lage (42nd) and Gerson Rodrigues (45th +1), it was the Scoists who led 2-1. In the second half, it was less intense. Casimir Ninga was close to the third goal for Angers (58th), but Gerson Rodrigues answered with a scissor (63rd). Finally we stay on this score of 2-1 which is good for Angers (12th, 10 points ahead of the barrage). Troyes drops to 16th place one point behind Metz, which is a play-off.

The 3 p.m. results:
