Xiaomi is one of the Chinese companies that keep creating new superlatives with smartphone technologies that the competition can hardly keep up with. That’s exactly what happened again. Xiaomi has developed an absurdly fast charging technology and demonstrated it in the video.

Xiaomi fully charges smartphone in 5 minutes

While Samsung, as the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, still charges its Galaxy S23 (test) with a maximum of 25 to 45 watts, Xiaomi has shown the competition where the hammer is. A Chinese competitor recently announced the Realme GT 3, a smartphone that charges with 240 watts and charges a 4,600 mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in just under 10 minutes. Xiaomi didn’t let that sit long and demonstrated its 300-watt charging technology. The specially modified Redmi Note 12 Pro+ with 4,100 mAh battery charges with 300 watts in exactly 5 minutes from 0 to 100 percent:

Xiaomi charges smartphones with 300 watts in 5 minutes

The Xiaomi cell phone is already 50 percent charged after 2 minutes and 12 seconds. A few seconds later it’s already 80 percent and after exactly 5 minutes it’s 100 percent. No other smartphone in the world charges so quickly. Xiaomi displays a meter while charging so you can see exactly how high the power consumption is. 300 watts are not reached, but 290 watts. In the end it’s the result that counts and that’s impressive. Xiaomi has once again shown the smartphone competition who has the fastest charging technology.

Xiaomi uses new battery technology

To achieve such high charging performance, Xiaomi rebuilt the battery and used “15C cells”. With the 210-watt fast-charging technology, it’s only “10C cells”. In combination with a higher power density, reduced heat generation and other improvements, this incredibly fast charging technology is possible. However, Xiaomi has made the battery a bit smaller again, so that the charging speed drops significantly in the end. It is not known if and when this 300-watt fast-charging technology will be built into a smartphone. Xiaomi’s 210-watt fast charging technology is only used in a special model in China.
