Garcia won the 11th title of his career, the 4th of his season after successes in Bad Homburg, Warsaw and Cincinnati.
Despite only being in 74th place in the WTA rankings at the start of the year, Garcia had a great season that ended with the most prestigious success of his career. Her record also includes two doubles victories at Roland-Garros, in 2016 and this year, alongside Kristina Mladenovic.
Second Frenchwoman to win this year-end Masters, after Amélie Mauresmo in 2005, Garcia succeeds the Spanish Garbine Muguruza on the list.
