Suara.com – A man in Russia sentenced to 6 years in prison for using money technical error. This man named Roman Yurkov received Rp 19 billion in his account due to a digital banking error.

According to Russia Today, he made 220 different transactions on the night of June 1, 2020, after discovering a technical error while withdrawing money from his bank account.

He then bought four apartments, a new iPhone, a BMW and a Mercedes before being arrested in December. Police also confiscated the remaining money in his account, worth 39 million rubles (Rp 7.8 million).

But in his defense, Yurkov said he had done absolutely nothing wrong.

Mash reports that Yurkov woke up on the morning of July 1 and realized he had become suddenly rich with billions in his account.

At first, he thought it was a win from the bookies. He called the bank to make sure everything was in order, he said, and was told everything was fine.

Over the next few months, he started squandering money, buying cars, apartments while constantly calling the bank to make sure everything was okay with his account.

He said the bank was repeatedly told that everything was fine. In November, his account was closed. One month later, Yurkov was called to the bank for a meeting to discuss the situation and he was later arrested.

According to the man, he did nothing wrong and claims that he fully believes it was the bookmaker’s fault.

Yurkov can still appeal the decision, although it is not yet known whether he intends to do so.
