World Cup 2022 results: Japan vs Costa Rica 0-1, Keysher Fuller scores the winning goal

Forward Takuma Asano, who previously scored in the win against Germany, came on for Ayase Ueda. On defense, Yuto Nagatomo was dropped and Hiroki Ito came on.

Asano’s introduction added to the power of Japan’s impact on Costa Rica’s defence. He immediately wrought terror against Keylor Navas’ goal.

After an hour, midfielder Kaoru Mitoma came on to replace defender Miki Yamane. Meanwhile, Costa Rica replaced midfielder Gerson Torre with Brandon Aguilera and striker Anthony Conteras with Jesson Bennette.

The Japanese coach added another striker by inserting Junya Ito as a replacement for midfielder Ritsu Doan.

When the team nicknamed Blue Samurai played persistently by constantly launching attacks, they conceded in the 81st minute with Keysher Fuller taking advantage assist Dari Yeltsin Tejeda.

Left behind by a goal, Japan continued to pressure Costa Rica’s defense persistently. In the 88th minute they had a chance to score. However, saves by Navas hampered the Japanese players.

The victory over Japan was a resurgence for Costa Rica, who had previously lost 7-0 to Spain. This result means that Keylor Navas and her colleagues still have hope of qualifying for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup.

Costa Rica are now third in the 2022 World Cup Group E standings, with three points, the same as Japan, which is in second place. Another party in this group, Spain-Germany, will play their second match on WIB Monday morning, November 28, 2022.
