Crefeld. The sun shone last weekend to compete with the younger sailors, some of whom had traveled from afar with their little “Optimist dinghies” for the last race of the year. Set sail for the Opti season on the Elfrather See. After all, little Philip Sonneck came from Augsburg with his father to attend the famous Krefeld Sailing Club KSK event.

The event has been very popular with younger sailors and their families for years and is also organized every year by the club managers around the regatta director Frank Steinbach with passion and sensitivity for the needs of young people.

Unfortunately it was already evident that the Corona pandemic has caused fewer swimmers and therefore fewer small sailors to “grow” than in previous years. Therefore, instead of the usual 50 starters, this year only 25 sailors of small sailboats took part in the regatta.

However, the sun was so bright, the wind so friendly and the KSK catering so good that neither the sailors, nor their parents, nor the many KSK volunteers regretted it this weekend on and on the beloved “E- See “to Spend.

The results:
Optimist Class B: Winner: Nora-Emilia Rissanen (DYC); Second: Henrik van Betteray (DYC). Third: Philipp Sonneck (ASC); Fourth: Josefine Singer (KSK).

Optimist Class C: Winner: Felix Hermsen (DUYC); Second: Paula Maria Paffen (DUYC); Third: Hannah Wolf (DUYC).
