Women’s Bundesliga: Bremen are hoping for a cup rematch in Essen

On Matchday 9 of the Women’s Bundesliga, five of the six matches will be played between neighbors. Some of these placements would not necessarily have been expected before the season. Will this be the tightest day of the season so far?

SC Freiburg – MSV Duisburg (Saturday, 16:00)

MSV Duisburg is in sixth place with ten points and is currently the best team in North Rhine-Westphalia – few would have expected this before the season.

The Duisburg women have achieved this position with outstandingly good communication on the pitch, Sarah Freutel in particular often takes on the role of defensive organizer, the result is a stable defence.

The 0:7 against Bayern Munich was an outlier, because if the game were excluded from the table, Duisburg would only have conceded six goals in seven games.

SV Meppen – 1. FC Köln (Sunday, 13:00)
