Woman in her 50s died after stabbing at Nav office in Bergen – VG

Already four minutes after the police were notified about the incident at 10.02, they were in place at the Nav office in Årstad on Danmarks plass in Bergen city center.

BACKGROUND: Two people stabbed in Bergen – one man arrested

It then became clear that one perpetrator had stabbed two people who were inside the building. It was later revealed that the two injured were Nav employees.

Both the injured were immediately taken to Haukeland University Hospital. Police now confirm that one of those who was stabbed died after the incident.

The other person injured in the incident is a woman in her mid-30s. According to the police, she must have been slightly injured.

– The police have received confirmation from Haukeland University Hospital that one of the two injured after the knife attack on Nav Årstad today died from the injuries she suffered, the police write in a press release at 15.05.

The deceased is a woman in her late 50s.

The relatives have been notified, the police say, who have invited to a press briefing at 16.30 on Monday. Nav confirms to VG that they will be at the press conference on Monday afternoon.

One perpetrator was apprehended shortly after the first patrol was on the scene.

According to VG’s information, this is a man in his 30s. He will be questioned by the police on Monday afternoon, confirms the man’s defender Morten Grimstad.

– I’m on my way in for questioning now. I have not spoken to either the police or my client, so I can not comment on anything, Grimstad says to VG at 3 p.m.

At around 1 pm, VG was informed that several police officers had conducted investigations at a private address in Bergen. According to VG’s information, this is the address of the man who has now been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

Director of social services in Bergen municipality, Jostein Hestnes, has confirmed to VG that the person who was arrested at the Nav office was there in connection with a conversation.
