What do Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Erling Haaland, Mario Balotelli and Paul Pogba have in common? All of them are (or were) represented by consultant heavyweight Carmine «Mino» Raiola (52). On Monday, the native Italian will be sitting in the VIP area of the Letzigrund. The reason: The Swiss Football Agents Association (SFAA) announces its collaboration with Raiola, the player agent with the highest turnover according to the US business magazine “Forbes”.
–
The alliance also includes the other heavyweights such as Cristiano Ronaldo’s advisor Jorge Mendes, Jonathan Barnett (who represents Gareth Bale, among others) and the German Rogon Group (Firmino, Draxler).
–
Only wage commission of 3%
Christoph Graf (58), President of the SFAA, proudly announces: “Mino Raiola has been an honorary member of our association since today.” The common goal of football managers: The fight against almighty FIFA!
–
The declaration of war from the point of view of the consultants: In October 2019, the WorldFootball Association in Shanghai decided that agents from clubs should only receive a 3% wage commission. Up to now, 8, 9, or 10 percent were common. Graf: “Headhunters in Switzerland get 30 to 40 percent.”
–
“North Koreans have more say”
Raiola and his Swiss colleagues (including Xherdan Shaqiri’s brother Erdin and the advisors of Yann Sommer and Roman Bürki are among them) fear that around 60% of European colleagues will lose their jobs because of FIFA.
–
Raiola says: “The citizens of North Korea have a greater say than we have against FIFA.” And then asks: «Is there a cap (cap, the editor) for transfer sums, player wages or admission fees? No.” But Raiola and his colleagues dictated Fifa a cap.
–
Raiola: «We do not expect FIFA to be put back. She didn’t even welcome us to the table as stakeholders. Football has become a multi-trillion business, so as FIFA you have to accept that you cannot be a monopolist. We want to take Fifa to court in Switzerland if necessary! »

The fight against FIFA as a hobby
Graf doubles up and heretically asks: “Have more player consultants or FIFA officials been arrested in recent years?” On the night of May 27, 2015, six senior FIFA officials were arrested in Zurich’s Baur au Lac on suspicion of bribery.
–
Heavyweight Raiola: “I should eat less and do more sports, but fighting FIFA has become my hobby.”
–
FIFa writes BLICK on request: “In the past year alone, agents worldwide earned $ 653.9 million in transfer fees, or four times more than in 2015.” The planned measure to cap the consultant fees is intended to avoid excessive or abusive practices. “All these FIFA proposals are sensible, appropriate, reasonable, proportionate and necessary to protect the interests of the players (…).”
