With Mob’Europe, European stays to allow young people from Poher to gain confidence – Carhaix

Young people from the Ouest Bretagne center enrolled in the Local Mission have the opportunity to taste a professional experience in a European country through the Mob’Europe scheme. The advantage is that this program is subsidized by Europe (Erasmus +) and the county council, which limits the costs for young people. “On a budget of €3,500 for eight weeks abroad, they only pay €400, plus pocket money”, indicates Mathieu Fouillen, adviser at the local mission of Pays Cob, in Carhaix.

Several possible destinations

Several destinations are currently offered under the scheme: Portugal, Spain and Ireland (and possibly Germany). Only condition: to have his baccalaureate. The young people benefit from personalized support from the Gwennili association, from Quimper, a partner of the Local Mission. “The young person is quite supervised, specifies Solène Guermeur, of the association. We accompany him before the stay, but also during and after, which is very reassuring for families. »

Progress in languages

Three young Carhaisiens were recently able to take advantage of it, from March 22 to May 26, 2022. None of them had yet “been out of the territory so much”. All say they have made great progress in languages, and claim to have gained in autonomy and self-confidence.

This is the case of Logan Le Troadec, 18, from Carhaix, who ended up in a charity shop in Dublin, Ireland. Hugo Le Nen, 19, from Plounévézel, did his internship in a fair trade company in Leon, Spain. Same destination for the Carhaisien Elyot Thomas, 19, who worked in a traditional and gourmet restaurant, and a wine bar. “Catering didn’t interest me that much, but I thought it would allow me to discover this profession, and I liked it,” he says.

“It made me grow! »

“Young people are asked to choose the country and the type of mission they wish to carry out. Our partners on site are in charge of finding them internships according to the expectations of the young people,” adds Solène Guermeur. A few weeks after their return from abroad, the young people evoke their memories with force. “This trip really taught me how to manage myself better. It made me grow, ”says Elyot, who does not hide that the hardest moment, in his case, was to leave.

Next departures in October

The next departures within the framework of Mob’Europe are scheduled for October. “Three places are generally reserved for the local Mission of Pays Cob”, indicates Mathieu Fouillen, who recognizes that the device does not always find takers locally. “Culturally, the idea of going abroad is not always well accepted within families,” he regrets. To better convey the idea, several young people who participated in the scheme will be present on a Europe stand at the Vieilles Charrues festival, in order to arouse, perhaps, other desires…
