Farmers complain that they are being forced to sell their vegetables and fruits to middlemen at their cost, and sometimes even below their cost. Meanwhile, the same agricultural products in stores later cost several hundred percent more. Who drains our pockets and why has nobody done anything about it so far?
Those who do everyday errands know: the prices of vegetables and fruit are not low. The stores are horrible. It is different with the farmer. He is paid very little for vegetables and fruits. – New potatoes sold now cost around 30 groszy per kilogram. The same potatoes can be purchased in the store for 2.5 to 3 zlotys per kilo – for example, Michał Kołodziejczak, the leader of AgroUnii, gives.
As he adds, the farmer usually does not deliver his crops to the markets himself. Brokers do it for him. Sometimes there are even several of them.
– Some retail chains have an agreement with an intermediary that they only take the goods from him, but they must be delivered for a specific, low price. If the farmer starts to rebel and does not want to give up his crops for the price of producing them, the broker looks for another producer in the country or imports the vegetable from abroad – says the farmer.

He claims that such imported goods are repackaged in Polish packaging while still abroad, such as the case of Dutch carrots, which entered the country as Polish. – Nobody controls how much of this commodity enters the country, or what quality it is – believes the leader of AgroUnii.
