Gridhot.ID – Presidential election United States of America almost entering its peak time.
The two presidential candidates who competed namely Donald Trump and Joe Biden mutually looking for the masses to support their votes.
However, in the meantime, the candidates who are still considered superior are Donald Trump.
In fact, this has made several countries outside America worry.
One of them is Palestine.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, Tuesday (13/10/2020) said it would be a disaster for his people and the world at large.
He said that would happen if President Donald Trump won the US presidential election next month.
Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said in the last four years, the Trump administration has severely harmed Palestine.
“If we are going to live another four years with President Trump, we are asking for God’s help,” he said.
“God will help us, God will help you and the whole world,” said Shtayyeh.
He repeated comments he made the day before during a remote meeting with EU lawmakers.
The comments were previously posted on a Facebook page, reported AP, Tuesday (10/13/2020).
Palestinians have traditionally refrained from taking explicit positions in American presidential elections.
Shtayyeh’s comments reflect a sense of despair on the Palestinian side after a series of US actions that have left them weakened and isolated.
Palestinians cut ties with Trump after recognizing contested Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in late 2017.
Then move the American Embassy to that holy city.
Trump has also cut hundreds of millions of dollars in American aid to Palestine, closing down Palestinian diplomatic offices in Washington.
Creating a Middle East plan this year that largely benefits Israel.
Palestinians have simply rejected the plan.
The Trump administration has also persuaded two Arab countries, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, to forge full diplomatic relations with Israel.
In fact, Trump promised other Arab countries will follow suit.
This agreement has weakened the traditional Arab consensus that recognition of Israel only comes in exchange for an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal, a scarce resource for Palestinians.
Shtayyeh hopes the victory of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden will raise prospects for a peace deal.
“If things are going to change in the United States, I think this will reflect itself directly on the Palestinian-Israeli relationship,” he said.
“And it will also reflect itself on the Palestinian-American bilateral relationship,” he added.
