The toilet is actually not suitable for defecation. Moreover, if the vehicle is not equipped with a container or septic tank, the dirt might immediately spill onto the road.

PO Putera Mulya through his social media once explained that bus toilets could only be used for urinating, not defecating. Apart from not having a drain tank, the capacity of the water tank on AKAP buses is also very limited, which is only around 200 liters.

Head of Bus Product & Sales, Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia, Adri Budiman confirmed that buses are generally not equipped with dirt containers. So, it is not good to use defecation.

“In general, buses in Indonesia do not have a septic tank to collect urination results,” Adri told detikOto.

“Therefore, most bus bodies only allow bus passengers to use the toilet while the bus is running to avoid water stored in the toilet and odors that can enter the bus cabin and can pollute the highway,” he added.
