Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalni, allegedly poisoned on a plane, was flown to Germany.
His convoy, escorted by the Police and which included two yellow ambulances, arrived shortly after 10:20 am at the emergency service of the Charité hospital, one of the most prestigious in Europe.
“Alexei Navalni’s condition is stable,” said Jaka Bizilj, head of the German NGO Cinema For Peace, which chartered the plane for its transfer from Russia to Berlin.
The hospital management told the press that the doctors were going to carry out a “comprehensive medical diagnosis” that will last “for some time” and will only make a pronouncement after this detailed examination.
The environment of the most famous opponent of the Kremlin maintains that he was the victim of “intentional poisoning”, with “something mixed in his tea”, what the Russian doctors rejected.
Navalni spokeswoman Kira Iarmych attributed the doctors’ initial opposition to transferring him to Germany to the desire to “buy time and wait until the poison can no longer be detectable in his body.”
For its part, the Omsk region Health Ministry stated that “caffeine and alcohol had been discovered in the urine” of the opponent. “No poison … has been discovered.”
But Navalni’s spokeswoman said Thursday that Navalni had neither drunk nor taken medication.
The Russian doctors affirmed that the hypothesis they favored was that of a “glycemic imbalance” caused by a drop in the level of sugar in the blood.
The anti-corruption activist he felt very bad on board a plane that transported him to Moscow on Thursday and had to make an emergency landing in Omsk (Siberia), where he was hospitalized.
Navalni’s work continues
In 2018, another Russian opponent, Pyotr Verzilov, transported there by the same NGO, was also treated at the Charité hospital in Berlin. The latter, already cured, also reported having been poisoned.
Many Western countries and international organizations expressed their concern and demanded that the circumstances of what happened with Navalni be clarified.
This activist, whose posts about the corruption of Russian elites are widely followed on social media, has already been the victim of several physical attacks.

Several adversaries to the Russian authorities have suffered poisonings in recent years, in Russia or abroad. The Russian authorities have always denied any responsibility.
