In the midst of conflict Russia with Ukraine heated up, North Korea (North Korea) defended Russia. In fact, North Korea accused the United States (US) of causing the Ukraine crisis.
It is known, various world leaders have criticized Russia’s actions against Ukraine. However, not with North Korea.
In a response posted on its Foreign Ministry website, North Korea called the US to blame for what is now happening in Ukraine.
The accusations against the US were made in Pyongyang’s first response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Washington has pursued military supremacy by ignoring Russia’s legitimate demands for its security,” said Ri Ji Song, a researcher at International Political Studies for the North Korean Society.
“The root cause of the Ukraine crisis also lies in the arbitrary attitude of the US,” added the commentary posted on Saturday (26/2).
Ri criticized the United States for imposing double standards – saying the United States was interfering in the internal affairs of other countries in the name of ‘peace and stability’, but without good reason he criticized the self -defense measures taken by other countries to ensure their own national security.
“The response is the official reaction is ‘low’ because it was published under the individual’s name,” said Park Won-gon, a professor of North Korean Studies at Ewha Womans University.
“The conclusion is it’s all because of the US. The main point is that you will suffer if you don’t have the power,” he told AFP, reported Sunday (27/2).
Russia is known as one of North Korea’s ‘friends’, along with Beijing. Moscow also opposes international pressure on North Korea’s nuclear arsenal, even asking for international sanctions to be eased for humanitarian reasons.
Previously, China, North Korea’s most important ally, also blamed the United States and its Western allies in recent weeks for “escalating” the Ukraine crisis.
