The Schitt’s Creek series premiered on January 13, 2015 on CBC / Radio Canada. In Germany you could first see them on Netflix. In Schitt’s Creek, viewers get to know the successful entrepreneur and owner of a video store, Johnny Rose. But Johnny has a big problem. He is so infatuated with his luxury life and convinced that his business will keep his family coffers full forever that one day he simply collapses under the burden of his expenses. His manager cheated on him for years, did not pay the taxes but put them in his own pocket. It goes without saying that in the end the tax investigation will come and take all the remaining possessions under the nail. The sweet life with the millions is probably over once and for all.
But there is still a little hope called Schitt’s Creek. It’s a city somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Canada that the family man once gave his son for his birthday in his megalomania, yes, you read that right: a whole city. So this is where the family’s new home will be. Father Johnny, the former soap opera diva and mother Moira, the strange and pansexual son David and the spoiled and spoiled daughter Alexis move into two rooms in a shabby motel in Schitt’s Creek. The new life in simplicity and seclusion turns out to be difficult – both for the formerly rich family and for the down-to-earth residents of the city, who now (have to) get to know their owners.
