Habib Rizieq Shihab (HRS) attended the event meeting 212. Habib Rizieq admitted that he was reluctant to go to the 212 meeting if he was in the form of a rally because he feared being jailed again.
The 212 meeting titled ‘Munajat Akbar Indonesia Bersholawat’ was held at At-Tin Mosque, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta (East Jakarta) on Friday (2/12/2022). Habib Rizieq expressed his doubts about attending the 212 meeting to the public.
Habib Rizieq admitted that he first consulted with a lawyer before attending the 212 meeting. After the consultation, Habib Rizieq finally wanted to come to the 212 meeting.
“I’ve consulted with the lawyers, whether I come to the meeting, is it a violation of the law or not. That’s the question. If it’s a violation, tomorrow my PB (parole) will be canceled, tomorrow I will be picked up again to be prison for one year. But if it’s not a violation of the law, that’s fine,” Habib Rizieq said in his speech.
Habib Rizieq admitted he asked a lawyer to be more vigilant. Habib Rizieq received an explanation that by right or legally, participating in the 212 meeting does not violate, including holding rallies.
“And a little’ by right, but from indeed it can be a problem if there are people who don’t like it (therefore) create a problem. For this reason the lawyer said ‘just like this Habib’, the lawyer suggested, ‘Habib ask first, in what form do they hold a meeting? If it takes the form of a demonstration, a street action, Habib better not participate, oh the lawyers refuse hard, don’t participate,” he explained.
“Even if legally permissible, as long as the demonstration is notified to the police. But the demonstration is risky, there is one that is take it it can be noisy. If there is confusion, Habib is shot. Demonstrations are risky because there is political speech in the command car, as soon as there is political speech and it is considered unpleasant, Brother, it is also considered a provocation to the public, even if it is not me speaking, I will still be questioned , so said the lawyer, don’t join the demonstration, already you must not participate even if it is called a peaceful demonstration, because it is risky, something could happen”, he continued.
