The Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), which was the first session of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), to which 2 million 437 thousand 119 candidates, organized by the Directorate of Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), was applied.
According to the decision taken by the Higher Education Council, TYT candidates were given another 30 minutes this year compared to last year. In this context, in the TYT, which started at 10.15, the candidates used 165 minutes to answer the questions.
ÖSYM President Prof. Dr. “The first session of YKS was completed without any problems in all of our examination centers,” said Halis Aygün.
Candidates were not admitted to the exam buildings after 10.00. Provincial / district population directorates were held open for candidates who lost their TC identity card, who did not have a national ID card, or who did not have a Turkish ID number and photo.
A total of 20 questions, 40 in the Turkish language test, 5 in history in the social sciences test, 5 in geography, 5 in philosophy, 5 in religious culture and moral or additional philosophy questions, 40 in basic mathematics test, 7 in physics, 7 in chemistry and 6 in biology. 20 questions were asked in the science test in which he was involved.
The second session, Field Proficiency Tests (AYT), will start at 10.15 on Sunday, June 28 and last for 180 minutes. “Turkish language and literature-social sciences-1” test in AYT will consist of 40 questions. In this test, candidates will answer 24 questions from Turkish language and literature, 10 from history-1, and 6 from geography-1.
AYT’s “social sciences-2” test will consist of 40 questions, math test 40, science test 40 questions. In the social sciences test, there will be 11 questions from history-2, 11 from geography-2, 12 from philosophy group, 6 questions from religious culture and moral knowledge or additional philosophy questions. The distribution in the science test will be physics 14, chemistry 13 and biology 13 questions.
The third and last session, Foreign Language Test (YDT), will start on June 28 at 15.45 and the candidates will be given 120 minutes. The exam, which will be held in German, Arabic, French, English and Russian, will contain a total of 80 questions.
CORONAVIRUS MEASURES FOR THE EXAM
Exam buildings / schools were thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before the exam.
In each session of the YKS, mask and disinfectant were distributed to the candidates at the entrance of the examination building within the scope of coronavirus measures. Candidates who wanted brought their disinfectants with them. Latex gloves were distributed to the examiners along with a mask and disinfectant. Wanting candidates and officers came with masks and visors.
Candidates who wanted to follow the suggestion of the Scientific Committee were able to take off their masks during the exam after passing to the exam hall and sitting in their desk.
Nobody, except candidates and examiners, was admitted to school gardens to prevent clutter and maintain social distance in school gardens. Candidates were guided by the examiners to maintain social distance at the entrance to the exam buildings and at the exit from the building at the end of the exam.
CANDIDATES WITH KOVID-19 CONDITIONS, TAKEN EXAMINATION IN SEPARATE BUILDINGS
Candidates with Kovid-19 status were taken to the exam in separate halls in reserve buildings prepared at all examination centers.
Due to YKS, curfews are imposed in 81 provinces between 09.30-15.00 today.
Meanwhile, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality provided free public transportation to students who will take the exam. The police warned those who did not follow the social distance rules around the examination centers.
