It is a special month that Muslims are preparing to live.

VSsome, confined, will stay to pray at home, others will continue to go to the mosque. The fasting month of Ramadan, in the midst of a coronavirus pandemic, will be lived in a disparate way around the world. The first day of the month of Ramadan 2020 was Thursday, April 23 in Belgium, from 6 p.m., as in France.
In many countries, it will therefore be “Ramadan in private, far from each other and far from mosques”, as summarized by Taulant Bica, one of the leaders of the Albanian Muslim community.

No gatherings for large evening meals (iftar), no night prayer at the mosque (tarawih), no meeting with friends until late at night, no travel to the holy cities of Islam. In Belgium, containment measures are in effect until May 3 and no exceptions will be made.
For this exceptional year, the World Health Organization (WHO) had also clearly advocated “the cancellation of social and religious gatherings”, including “in places associated with Ramadan activities, such as places of entertainment, markets and shops ”.
But she clarified, however, that confinement does not exempt “healthy” Muslims from fasting, “as in previous years”. Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam.
