A new batch of non-compliant federally ordered masks, Wallonia is concerned

Wallonia has acquired KN 95 masks from the same supplier.

Dn the saga of masks, nothing will be spared us. This Wednesday, Aviq, the Walloon agency for a quality life, was informed by the FPS Economy that tests had been carried out, on April 10, on one of the lots of KN 95 masks received in the context of orders from the federal government to a Chinese supplier, after negative feedback from the field. These tests concluded that they did not comply, the Belga agency learned on Wednesday evening.

Wallonia having acquired KN 95 masks from the same supplier, it immediately notified the provincial governors as well as the healthcare establishments where they were distributed so that these masks are no longer used pending the results of a triple analysis commissioned by the Region. Its results are expected this weekend.

The batches of KN95 masks making up the Walloon order – we are talking about several hundred thousand masks – were shipped from China from March 31 to April 21.

The green light from the FPS Economy

On March 19, they received the green light from the FPS Economy, responsible for verifying the conformity of masks of type KN 95, equivalent to FFP2 masks. Since then, the successive batches of KN 95 masks delivered to Wallonia have been released by the Customs, following, each time, the agreement of the SPF Economy, defends itself today the Region which requests that the masks delivered by AViQ are no longer used.

“In view of the uncertainty, in application of the precautionary principle and pending the analyzes commissioned on Wednesday by Wallonia from approved laboratories on lots acquired by AViQ, we urge you to no longer provide your staff and to no longer use the KN95 masks that AViQ distributed to you on April 3, 2020, April 10, 2020 and April 17, 2020 ”, can we read in the message sent by the regional agency to all the services concerned.
