Many WhatsApp users are certainly familiar with the problem: You get tons of messages, but you just don’t have the time to read them right now. Still, the phone rings or vibrates until you drop. Up to now, only manual muting of the cell phone or archiving of messages helped. The latter was reversed when another new message was received in the same chat. WhatsApp now wants to address this problem.
Like the well-informed blog WABetaInfo reported, the “Read Later” function has appeared in a new beta version of the Android app. This should later replace the archived chats. So you can move annoying chats to the “Read later” area, which remain muted for the entire time, even if you receive new messages here.

This should increase the comfort for frequent chatters, but who still want to enjoy peace and quiet from time to time. One of the big advantages should be the own area and the sorting. All chats that you want to read later could be found there, which would not be possible with manual muting.
No release date of the function known yet
It is likely to be one of the major changes to WhatsApp in 2021, but when exactly this will appear is still unclear.
