WhatsApp Presents Secret Code Feature to Hide Private Messages

TYPE, JAKARTA – The chat application made by Meta, WhatsApp has just launched its new feature. This new feature is an improvement from the previous feature, namely message lock or chat lock. With this improvement, users can now hide locked messages with a secret code.

With the help of this code the message will not appear in the chat list. Users can only see it after entering the secret code in the search field. The code you create can be a combination of lowercase and uppercase letters, symbols and even emojis. Of course, the more unique the code you create, the more difficult it will be to crack.

“So no one can accidentally find your most private conversations,” said Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg via his WhatsApp channel, Friday (1/12/2023).

This additional feature can be useful for protecting your privacy, especially when your cellphone is borrowed by a friend. Users can also still save locked messages so they remain in the chat list.

“We are very happy that the WhatsApp community likes Chat Lock and hope this secret code can make it even more useful,” wrote WhatsApp.

To activate this feature, there are several steps you can take. This has been explained previously by WhatsApp so that users can take advantage of this feature easily. The following are the steps.

• Open the WhatsApp application

• Select one of the chats you want to lock

• Then press and hold (press and long)

• Click the 3 dot icon located in the top right corner

• Activate Lock chat with the user’s fingerprint or facial scanner (Face ID).

• If the conversation is locked, open the Locked Chats folder. Click Settings. Select “Secret Code”

• Then Create Secret Code” then create a unique code to secure your conversation.

• Select continue, then confirm the code

This feature itself is currently not widely distributed by WhatsApp. However, gradually it will soon be available globally so that the benefits can be felt by all users.
