Whatsapp messaging seeks to make it easier to use, especially when the user changes phones.

This will result in an automatic call to verify the phone number when initially launching the app. Whatsapp initiates a call and hangs up immediately, just to verify that the line is active. The application then consults the last call received in order to confirm that the telephone number corresponds to the one used to perform the verification step.
This feature will be optional and will only be deployed on Android initially.
