On Saturday, visitors to the Riga Festival will have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse concert program in several areas of Riga. In Sarkandaugava and Jugla, a street music event “Rīgas retro” will take place, in Ziedondarzs, Arkadia Park and Ķīpsala beach you will be able to listen to music performed by favorite artists in the concert cycle “Go Boat Shining”. The music performed by various performers will be played at the Mara pond at the event “The Voice of Lake Mara. Coastal Music ”and the concert“ Summer Time. ” The performance of young and promising musicians will be enjoyed in the Āgenskalns market, in the yard of the Riga Dome Choir School and in the Kalnciems quarter in concerts “Solo and Jumping”, while in the park of the cultural palace “Ziemeļblāzma” listeners are welcome in the concert “About summer, flowers and love”. On the second day of the festival, residents are invited to go on thematic walks. The route created especially for the Riga Festival and the narration of a guide dressed in an Art Nouveau costume will allow the participants of the walk to feel the 20th century. beginning in Riga, walk along Alberta Street and its surroundings in the excursion “Walk through Art Nouveau Riga”. In the new Teika, the walking route will consist of flower installations, inviting you to dive into the world of music and flowers for a while, but you will be able to discover much new about the history of Riga and the Latvian cultural canon by going for a walk “Cultural canon values Riga.” Visitors of the festival are invited to a walk – concert all day long enjoying musical performances on floating platforms located in the city canal. To find out about movies made on the streets and squares of the capital, as well as movie stars who have been filmed in Riga, go to the “Cinema Walk”. Families with children are invited to take part in a city tour – a walk in the “Old Riga Expert”.
Small visitors to the festival are welcome in Spīķeri and Vidzeme markets, where a nice holiday program with musical performances, puppet theater performances and many other activities is expected. Circus artists, including acrobats from France and Spain, who will perform in Dzegužkalns, have also taken an interesting surprise for the children.
A fun event for the whole family with music, performances, dances and games will take place in Grizinkalns. The festive mood with thematic events will reign in Tērbatas vasaras Street, Mazjumprava Manor, E. Smiļģis Museum Garden, Independence Square and elsewhere in the city. Gourmets are welcome in the festive restaurant, which this year is available to visitors in the square near the Latvian National Museum of Art, as well as in the big picnic in Mežaparks.
The Riga Festival has always been full of sports activities. Also this year, residents will be able to both sympathize with the start of athletes and engage in physical activities themselves. Professionals and amateurs will meet at the Riga Festival Checkers Festival, there will be an opportunity to visit “9. open Riga U-Shu Cup ”, to observe aviation demonstrations and sailing of the Riga Cup. The organizers of the festival invite the visitors of the events to follow the national restrictions and the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control in relation to the spread of COVID-19. In order to ensure epidemiological safety during the festival, it is possible that not all visitors will be able to participate in any of the events. The organizers also remind that several celebrations are available with free invitations, which limits the number of visitors. Let’s celebrate the holiday responsibly!
