Every film stands or falls with a good script. This also applies to the John Wick franchise that successfully set up a complete universe around hitmen. Writer Derek Kolstad was responsible for this after which Chad Stahelski translated it beautifully into images.
However, Kolstad (who spoke the stories of Chapter 1, 2 in 3 pende) recently with COLLIDER to reveal that he is not involved in parts 4 and 5 in the series. He also states that it was certainly not his own choice to walk away:
