He has around 15,000 followers, all men, and he is dedicated to raising money supposedly for social actions. This is the most visible face of Brooklyn, the Facebook group investigated for the diversion of the plane to Mallorca that served a score of Moroccans to enter Spain illegally.
The Efe Agency contacted several of its administrators to try to unravel what a group that cannot be accessed if you are not a member is dedicated to and on whose wall a plan very similar to what happened at the Palma airport was published last July from Mallorca.

“Guys, listen, most want to emigrate. Follow this plan: we need 40 volunteers. All the boys from Brooklyn who book a plane to Turkey that flies over Spain”, reads this message, in which it is explained that a passenger he had to simulate an illness to make an emergency landing of the plane and then everyone would flee. Exactly what happened on the Spanish island.
Efe could not enter the group as the administrators did not agree to extend an invitation, but one of them, under the condition of anonymity, confirmed that this publication was written by YS, although he adds that he did so as “a joke” and not with the actual intention of managing an attempted illegal emigration.
After the event in Palma and before the group’s name was publicly disclosed, YS himself posted a message on his social network wall saying that what happened shows that Brooklyn is “a legend”, to which he attached a screenshot of the post from the plan published in July together with news of the event in Palma.
Hours later, he deleted it, as well as changed his profile photo, explaining that he did it so as not to be recognized as the author of the message. That post was later deleted as well.
Contacted today by Efe by phone from Casablanca, YS explained that he is 32 years old and is an assistant in a dental clinic and denies having been the author of the post with the emigration plan, although he is concerned about the criminal consequences it may have.
It focuses on explaining the social aspect of Brooklyn, to indicate that it was opened in 2016 and that since then it has raised half a million euros. In just one of their actions, the one they called “warm me,” they raised 33,000 euros to buy blankets and food for 300 poor families in the mountains of the Azilal province, in the center of the country, he says.
The group, which is not registered as a legal association, has an emblem with a black background and gold lettering that shows two muscular arms striking each other.
Dressed in black sweatshirts and masks with that gold logo, its members can be seen in a video posted on Facebook handing out dozens of bags of clothes and food in a mountain town and posing with the locals next to a banner that reads: “Brooklyn. Kingdom of men”.
In addition to their charities, the Brooklyn members are known for their sarcasm and rogue spirit. In 2018, dozens of members dressed as Saudi princes so that a famous Moroccan dancer agreed to animate a macro party they organized in a luxurious event hall.
The dancer attended the event before discovering that the entire audience was Moroccans dressed in the typical traditional clothing that is worn in the Arabian peninsula. The media reported the event, which has since made the group famous in Morocco.
Now, its members deny that the message with the emigration plan was serious, although they are concerned about it.
“One of you activates the GPS and when he approaches Spain he begins to scream and hint at illness. The stewardess will come to ask for patience until arriving in Turkey. At this moment the others get up to protest, claiming that the passenger is going to die,” he says the publication.

And he continues: “If everyone is sympathetic, the plane will make a forced landing in Spain to protect the reputation of the company and to free itself from responsibility. After the forced landing you will be taken to a terminal that is not the arrivals terminal, that is where there is the door from where the ‘patient’ has to escape.
