what awaits you this Thursday, January 2 at SNCF and RATP

In transport, the year 2020 begins – a little – better than it ended in 2019. The strike against the pension reform continues to disrupt traffic. For this Thursday, January 2, the SNCF plans slight improvements. So, for TGV : an average of three out of ten trains will run. The users of intercity will have to settle for one train in four, and five in ten on average for TER. For the Transilien network, an average of three out of ten trains will run.

If you leave the French borders, on the international side, here is the state of the traffic: nine Eurostar out of ten, eight Thalys out of ten, two trains Lyria out of five and one TGV Inoui out of three to Italy. SNCF also said Tuesday that it plans to run two TGV out of three for the weekend after the Christmas holidays, from January 3 to 5. “We have built a specific transport plan with the primary objective of running TGVs where our customers need them most, and in particular to guarantee the returns that we promised last week, explained Pierre Matuchet, the production manager of Voyages SNCF.

SNCF “invites” customers who have received a message informing them of the cancellation of their train to exchange their tickets “very quickly”. Presented as “simple”, the exchange to the same destination is theoretically carried out free of charge and at no additional cost, including when the alternative offered is more expensive.

Still many metro stations closed

On the RATP side, the situation is improving slightly, after two days of December 25 and New Years “very disturbed”. Thursday, January 2, count 8 metro lines that will operate fully (1 and 14) or partially (lines 2, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 13) and 8 closed lines. On the line 1, the traffic will be normal, with risks of saturation. Same on the line 14. On the other hand, on the lines 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13, the traffic will be reduced to the slots which go from 6:30 am to 9:30 am and from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, with certain stations which remain closed. Line 11 will be operated only in the morning from 6.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and the lines 6 and 12 will only be used in the evening from 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. The line 7 bis will remain closed.

On the tram and Orlyval network, the expected traffic will be normal. On the other hand, the circulation of RER lines will remain very disrupted, and timetables can be consulted directly on the RATP website, like the bus passages.
