But what exactly are the Pillars of Creation? Basically this image shown by Hubble 27 years ago is a phenomenon space the iconic.

According to the nasa.gov page, the Pillars of Creation are tendrils of cosmic dust and gas that rise to the heart of M16 or commonly called the Eagle Nebula, which is one of the star clusters in outer space.

This pillar spans 4 to 5 light years. Even so the presence of the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula is small considering that the dimensions of M16 reach 70 x 55 light years.

The star cluster M16 was discovered by the Swiss astronomer Jean-Philippe Loys de Cheseaux in 1745.

Due to its position it is 7,000 light years from Earth in the constellation of the Serpent. With a magnitude of 6, the Eagle Nebula can be seen through a telescope and will become even clearer when viewed in July.

The pillars are part of an active star-forming region, and NASA notes that the wavy lines that look like lava at the edges of some pillars are ejections of stars that are still forming in the gas and dust.

NASA scientists say the Pillars of Creation are bathed in the blazing ultraviolet light of a cluster of nearby young stars and that the winds of these stars are slowly eroding towers of gas and dust.

The $ 10 billion Webb telescope recently partnered with NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Canadian Space Agency.
