Test match U-23 national team against Tira Persikabo canceled. The certainty of the match cancellation was only smelled a few moments before the sudden kick-off.
This match was originally held at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/3/2021), at 20.00 WIB. Everything seemed to be running normally just before the match started.
The buses of the two teams namely U-23 Indonesian national team and Tira Persikabo even arrived at the stadium around 18.30 WIB. However, the lights around the stadium were slowly turning off.
The two teams were stuck on the bus in an uncertain situation. At around 19.00 WIB, the match committee approached the bus of the two teams and informed them of the cancellation of the match.
“Earlier (Wednesday night) we waited for about 30 minutes at the stadium. After that we immediately returned (after the match was canceled),” full-back Tira Persikabo Abduh Lestaluhu told reporters.
“What is clear is that all the players are disappointed because they have been preparing from a few weeks ago to face this trial. We have come to the stadium, but we cannot go down with the police, so we were told to go home,” he said.

Naturally Abduh was disappointed that the match could be canceled moments before kick-off. Boro-boro competed, the two teams were hurriedly asked to go home before getting off the bus.
“We arrived at the stadium, then were directed to park for 30 minutes, suddenly told to return to the hotel. We do not know why this cancellation,” said Media Officer Tira Persikabo Nandang Permana.
Several journalists who were about to cover the match were confused by the situation. Photographer detikSport is also on location.
For information, not all reporters can cover this match as usual. Given the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are rules to limit the presence of journalists regarding the implementation of health protocols.
PSSI provide strict conditions for journalists who want to cover. All must undergo an antigen swab test and submit proof of the test to the committee as a condition for taking ID coverage.
Several journalists who were present at this location then shared information with other media colleagues that the lights in the stadium were off. Immediately the suspicion arose that the match would be postponed considering that the team should have entered the stadium when it arrived at around 18.30 WIB.

Sure enough, the Kapolsek Tanah Abang, Police Commissioner Singgih Hermawan, confirmed the cancellation of the match. As it turned out, PSSI was not serious about taking care of a match permit.
He said, PSSI just applied for a permit on the same day as the scheduled match. So, applications for permits have not been made since long ago.
“We do not allow the Indonesian National Team’s trial plan against Tira Persikabo, because there is no permit. Until earlier, after Maghrib at 18.00 (WIB) until 18.30 (WIB) there was no exit permit, so we prohibited the implementation,” said Singgih Hermawan.
Meanwhile, Sesmenpora Gatot S. Dewa Broto, also shared the reasons for the cancellation of the match. Kemenpora also helped PSSI in terms of issuing a match permit recommendation.
The problem is, PSSI has only submitted a recommendation to the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Monday (1/3). The Ministry of Youth and Sports then gave a recommendation to PSSI the day after that it could be taken care of by the police.
“So far, the one who communicates directly about the PSSI’s licensing is yes. We only provide recommendations. If it turns out that there is no permission, our advice is to fulfill what the provisions are,” said Gatot when met at the Office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).
