LONDON – Arsenal’s football players were eliminated in the round of 16 of the League Cup. In Wednesday’s match, they lost to West Ham United 1:3.
Ben White opened the scoring in the 16th minute with an own goal, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen scored for the hosts in the second half, and Martin Ödegaard only corrected the result for the visitors in added time. Liverpool, who won in Bournemouth 2-1, advanced to the quarter-finals, Chelsea beat Blackburn 2-0, and Everton beat Brunel 3-0. Slovakian goalkeeper Marek Rodák caught Fulham’s 3:1 triumph at Ipswich.
Manchester United did not score a goal for Dúbravka
Slovak football goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka caught Newcastle United’s victory over his former club and defending champions Manchester United in the League Cup. “Magpies” triumphed 3:0 in the replay of last year’s final and advanced to the quarterfinals.
The guests from Newcastle laid the foundation for victory in the first half, which they won 2:0. Miguel Almiron opened the scoring in the 28th minute, replacing the injured Matt Targett after only five minutes. Lewis Hall added the second goal in the 36th minute, and Joe Willock made it 3-0 after an hour of play. Dúbravka caught all three Manchester shots between the three posts. Newcastle lost last year’s final 0:2.
