Khorasan Islamic State Group, ISIS-K , claimed responsibility for the bomb attack in the area around Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.

In this regard, ISIS-K commanders have told CNN that the group is biding its time to strike. CNN correspondent Clarissa Ward spoke with the ISIS-K commander two days before the suicide bomb attack at Kabul airport.
“When foreigners and people of the world leave Afghanistan, we can restart our operations,” the unnamed commander was quoted as saying. Sputnik, Sunday (29/8/2021).
He also shared with Ward that the terrorist group was recruiting members and waiting for foreigners to leave Afghanistan.
The ISIS-K commander also revealed to Ward that he had led a group of up to 600 people, including Indians and Pakistanis.

The anonymous militia also claims that he has worked with the Taliban, but has become critical of the group for moderating its stance against Western influence.
