Melvyn Lorenzen has been without a club for 14 months, he apparently no longer employs a consultant and his last station was Karpaty Lviv in the Ukraine, anything but a football hotspot in Europe. Although he’s only 26 years old, it seems like his career has already ended up in nowhere. At the moment there is little that can counteract this impression. But the striker, who comes from the U23 of SV Werder Bremen and made 14 Bundesliga appearances for Bremen from October 2013 to April 2016, has neither lost courage nor self-confidence in a situation that was additionally complicated by the corona pandemic and continues to believe to continue his professional career.
“For me personally, it’s a constant internal struggle not to give up and trust that the right opportunity will come,” says Melvyn Lorenzen in an interview with “transfermarkt.de” and admits that this fight is “not at all easy” on some days: “For a long time I have hardly followed any football matches, or not at all, as it can be extremely frustrating to watch games in which I could easily participate. ”But nobody lets the former professional of the SV Werder Bremen play along.
A job offer from Scandinavia fell through last spring because the corona lockdown intervened, and since then he’s somehow kept fit. Briefly with his hometown club Holstein Kiel, but for some time on my own and with other professionals without a contract in London, where part of Lorenzens family lives. “For a long time now, it’s just me who motivates myself every morning and doesn’t let myself down,” he says.

In the end, he wouldn’t care where or in which league he was allowed to show it. “Foreign cultures and playing styles are very appealing to me. But I can also imagine playing in Germany again, where many people have forgotten me.
