With two goals and a missed penalty, Wendel Silva was the great protagonist of the afternoon – he had the best performance in the last five months – and was essential in FC Porto B’s victory in their visit to Académico de Viseu (0-2). A clear victory for the blue and whites who added their second consecutive victory in the championship and jumped to seventh position (40 points).
On the other hand, the Viseense team recorded their second defeat at home, in the II League, this season, and remains in ninth place (38 points).
Regarding the game, the first 45 minutes were highlighted by the balance and the few chances for both sides. João Monteiro e Diogo Fernandes – two usual substitutes – were the big news in the goals of both teams, but they didn’t have much work.
Mora woke up; Wendel finished
Jorge Meireles, one of the most intervening, scared with an acrobatic shot in the 10th minute, but it was Clóvis who provided the best moment of the first half: after rotating inside the area, he shot well inside the area, but Diogo Fernandes – attentive and well positioned – he defended with great confidence. Rodrigo Mora, towards the end of the first half, still acted with his usual magic, but he also failed to find the net.
In the second half, more FC Porto B and… goals! After a mistake by Gonçalo Sousa – he trembled after a beautiful cross from Martim -, Rodrigo Mora – what a great quality in the pass (!) – found Vasco Sousa on his way to the small area and the midfielder, pushed by Marquinho, won a penalty. In the conversion, Wendel didn’t waste it.
After the goal, the Viseense response was timid and FC Porto B won again: with Abraham on the field, the Nigerian assisted Wendel who, after taking advantage of a slip by Arthur Chaves, finished straight at João Monteiro without any problems. Until the end, Wendel, again from a penalty, was close to scoring again, but shot too high: the worst moment of the afternoon for the Brazilian. In the last two moves of the game, Marquinho hit the post and Diogo Fernandes shone after Nduwarugira’s shot, which were the two best moves of the match for the Viseu team.
