Weather Factor One of the Causes of DHF in Blora

Blora, InfoPublik – One of the causes of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases in Blora Regency, Central Java in 2023 is due to the weather factor, in one day it can be scorching hot and it can also rain, which greatly affects the breeding of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes.

The Health Office (Dinkes) of Blora Regency, Central Java, announced that in early 2023 there were 43 cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in the local district.

The Head of the Blora District Health Office, Edy Widayat through the Head of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control (P3M), Sutik, said that the development of dengue cases was unpredictable.

He explained about the number of DHF cases in Blora Regency from January to February 2023, there were four cases of death out of 43 cases.

“So in Blora for DHF cases actually there are only a few genuine DHF, but most of them are dengue fever,” explained Sutik, in Blora Wednesday (8/2/2023).

He explained that in the hospital there are signs and symptoms that are already leading, but not necessarily DHF. Meanwhile, more than forty cases of DHF have met these criteria.

According to him, one of the causes of dengue cases in Blora this year is due to the weather factor, where in one day it can be hot and rainy, which greatly affects the breeding of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes.

He also did not deny that in 2022, dengue cases from January to December had soared.

“In 2022, our number of cases is quite high, the last number in December was 594 cases of dengue spreading in parts of Blora Regency,” he explained.

Furthermore, Sutik revealed that as a form of prevention and control of the spread of DHF in the Blora Regency area. The Health Office has instructed the Puskesmas to carry out eradication such as fogging or fogging, Eradicating Mosquito Nests (PSN) and a number of other steps.

“Puskesmas has carried out control and prevention by conducting fogging if someone has been infected with DHF in an area. Next, invite the community to carry out PSN by working together around the community settlements, so that it is clean and there are no more mosquito nests,” he explained.

Regarding the DHF problem, his party also asked the public to continue to carry out control and prevention by implementing 3 M, namely draining, closing and utilizing recycled goods.

In addition, his party also invites the public to promote Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) by participating in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment around the house, so that the Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae that cause DHF cannot enlarge and become dangerous mosquitoes.

Sutik added, if people experience high fever, immediately control it to health workers (Nakes) at the nearest health service. If there is an incident of DHF, it must be immediately reported to the officer, so that countermeasures can be taken.

“It is ensured that public reports will be followed up, for example by fogging. Take care of your own health, check with your doctor. If it is true that it is DHF, report it to the puskesmas or the health office,” he explained again.

The Blora Health Office hopes that the public will always be vigilant, especially for those who have family members with toddlers and children.

“So I remind the public, please re-enforce PSN, starting from the RT, RW, and villages. Once a week or two days drain the water reservoirs and also clean the environment. This is the most effective way to prevent larvae from developing and especially mosquito transmission,” he said. (MC District Blora/Teguh).
