– We fled to survive

A group of Russian wives and mothers are calling on Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop sending their husbands and sons “to the slaughter”.

The call, which is discussed by CNN, came in a video shared by the independent Russian Telegram channel SOTA, according to the newspaper. There, the women hold a poster dated 11 March 2023.

They believe that Putin is forcing the men to join assault groups despite having only had four days of training since the mobilization in September.

– The conflict has reached its climax

– Our mobilized men are sent like lambs to the slaughter. They are prepared to serve their homeland, but according to the specialization they have trained for, says a woman.

– We ask that you withdraw our boys and supply them with artillery and ammunition, she continues.

CNN points out that they have not confirmed the claims that appear in the video.

Many Russians, and especially many young men, have fled the country after Putin ordered the mobilization of hundreds of thousands to fight on the battlefields of Ukraine.

– We fled Russia because we want to live. We are afraid that we may be sent to Ukraine, an anonymous man told CNN earlier.

Several of the mobilized’s families have criticized the mobilization and said it is characterized by a lack of leadership, training, uniforms, medical supplies and poor food.
