Warning shots fired during manhunt after armed robbery in West

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and police arrested two men last night after a chase between Schiphol and Leiden. The two are suspected of armed robbery in West.

The pair were arrested in Leiden around 8.30 pm last night after a chase that started at Schiphol.

Constabularies and police officers were conducting a joint check around the airport last night when they received a notification that a car would be passing Schiphol airport that was involved in an armed robbery that had just been committed in West.

Firearm and 40,000 euros

Several units of the police and Constabulary went after the car. The driver ignored multiple stop signs on the A4 and A44 and ran off at high speed. Finally, the car came to a halt in Leiden and the suspects started running.

After a chase on foot by troopers and police officers, with several warning shots fired, both suspects were overpowered. One of the suspects found a loaded firearm, about 40,000 euros and drugs.

The two have been transferred to the Amsterdam police.
