New York: Number of Children With Coronavirus-Related Inflammatory Disease Rises to 85 | Univision 41 New York WXTV

“It is a situation that has taken life three (children) New Yorkers, “Cuomo said at his daily coronavirus press conference this Sunday.

“There are two additional deaths that are currently under investigation, possibly related to this same situation,” he added.

Cuomo explained that children diagnosed with the syndrome does not show the characteristics of the coronavirus, but the symptoms they present are similar to kawasaki disease and toxic shock syndrome.

The governor said an investigation is underway into whether the cases contradict the belief that children are at lower risk for contracting coronavirus.

Of the children diagnosed in the state so far, 38 minors are city residents of New York, as reported by Mayor Bill de Blasio this Sunday. He also said that there are nine other suspected cases.

De Blasio said the mysterious syndrome is a “new threat” and that the city is prioritizing care for minors.

The mayor indicated that in public hospitals (the Health + Hospital chain hospitals) they will test antibodies for all children with fever, abdominal pain and gastrointestinal symptoms, the symptoms associated with the syndrome, which also include a rash.
