JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Bank Indonesia issued special rupiah currency to welcome the 75th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
The special rupiah currency issued by Bank Indonesia was a note of Rp. 75,000. This is a rare moment considering that Bank Indonesia usually issues a special edition rupiah in the form of coins.
The Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo said that the money for commemorating Indonesia’s independence was an offering of happiness to the Indonesian people.
For this reason, Indonesians can obtain and exchange this special edition, limited edition rupiah currency.
“The public can obtain this independence commemoration money through the Rp 75,000 rupiah exchange mechanism. We have distributed the independence money to all Bank Indonesia offices,” Perry said in a virtual press conference for the launch of the special edition of the rupiah for the 75th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Monday (17 / 8/2020).
There are ways to pay attention to be able to exchange money. Perry said, money changers need to place an order online first. Orders are made in the Smart application that has been prepared today.
“Online through a smart application that we are preparing today, in line with the Covid-19 protocol,” said Perry.
The Rp. 75,000 note was dominated by red, white and green colors. The theme and philosophical meaning are to be grateful for independence, reinforce diversity, and to embrace a bright future.
This theme is illustrated through the currency design which includes the cover page, with the proclamation of independence on August 17, 1945 by proclaimers Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta.
Development Achievements
The design is also complemented by various development achievements during the 75 years of Indonesian independence. Some of the depictions include the bridge, MRT, and the Trans Java toll road.
On the back page of the currency, it means strengthening independence. The design includes a number of children dressed in traditional customs representing the western, central and eastern regions of Indonesia.
There is also an archipelago woven motif, represented by Balinese weaving, Javanese kawung batik, and southern Sumatran songket depicting kindness, elegance, and holiness.
Also in the backyard, which has the meaning of welcoming a glorious future in the digital era, the red and white satellite is described as the communication bridge of the Republic of Indonesia.
Likewise with the golden Indonesian map on the globe which symbolizes Indonesia’s strategic role in the global arena. Meanwhile, the picture of children wearing traditional clothes depicts superior human resources.
