“Walt Disney is spinning in his grave”: Elon Musk has a new target – the head of “Disney”

The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, has a habit of picking up on a topic and not letting it go for a long time, instead inundating his followers on (his own) social network X with post after post.

His new target: Disney CEO Bob Iger.

“He should be fired immediately,” read the billionaire’s sharpest comment.

The feud, if we can call it that, can be traced back to November, when the Iger-led media giant decided to stop advertising on the Musk-owned X social network.

A number of other major companies did the same, prompted by Musk’s comment on X in which he agreed with another user’s post that was described as “anti-Semitic.”

Musk apparently did not take the advertisers’ withdrawal well. During a New York Times live event in early December, he accused the withdrawn companies of trying to extort him and kill his social network.

“I don’t want them to advertise,” Musk answered when asked about the topic. “If someone is going to extort me with advertising or money, fuck you! Go. Get it. Knock it off. Is it clear?”, continued the billionaire very frankly.

And immediately after that he aimed at Iger.

“Hey Bob, if you’re in the audience, that’s how I feel,” Musk commented. Iger was at the event earlier that day.

Once he took Iger to task, Musk didn’t back down – on the contrary, in a series of posts on X he mocked the Disney boss and even implicated company founder Walt Disney in the – somewhat one-sided – feud.

“He’s spinning in his grave (or his cryochamber) because of what happened to his company,” Musk wrote of the late Walt, who Internet legend has it that he’s not dead, but frozen.

In several other posts, Musk joked about the poor performance of some of Disney’s movies in theaters. One of his humorous pictures was accompanied by a caption saying that the film company was getting a “defense contract” from the US government after making more bombs than Lockheed Martin.

A “bomb” is defined as a film that did not live up to expectations at the box office and was at a loss. The most recent example is “Captain Marvel 2”, which was the most financially unsuccessful of all the company’s superhero films.

Musk is apparently taking the X ad suspension personally, with a user posting that Iger isn’t boycotting the social network, and Musk himself, the billionaire, responded with “Exactly.”

Zahapa and the news of a lawsuit filed by the attorney general of the state of New Mexico against Meta’s social networks – Facebook and Instagram. According to the accuser, there is “ten times” more child sexual content there than on sites like PornHub and OnlyFans.

Musk shared several stories on the matter, possibly referring to the fact that Disney continues to advertise on Mark Zuckerberg’s platforms.

“Bob Iger thinks it’s cool to advertise next to child exploitation material. A guy you can count on,” reads another Musk rant.

However, the “feud”, as mentioned, is too one-sided for the moment. Iger’s only comment came from the same event in New York, where Musk did not hold his temper.

“We just felt that the relationship with … Elon Musk and X was not necessarily positive for us,” the Disney chief commented earlier in the day.

Iger returned to the company a little over a year ago after previously stepping down from its management. He retook the reins from his successor, Bob Chapek, in an environment where the company’s stock value was falling and the Disney+ streaming service continued to generate losses.
