Walmart distribution center: at least 2 dead in California shootout

At least two people died and four were injured in a Saturday night shooting at a Walmart distribution center in Red Bluff, California, CNN said.

The shooting took place around 3:00 p.m. Pacific time (6:00 p.m. local time), Rick Crabtree, an official with the town of Red Bluff, confirmed to CNN.

A car crashed into the distribution center, causing a fire, according to the official. However, the fire would not have caused significant damage.

A man, whose identity is unknown, was shot in the scene and transported to hospital, according to Mr. Crabtree. It is not known, however, whether it was the authorities who shot the suspect.

“There was an active shooter, he was shot, the last thing I heard was that he was heading for the hospital,” said Rick Cracbtree.

According to Dignity Health North State’s media relations officer, Allison Hendrickson, the local hospital, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff, saw six patients from the Walmart distribution center.

Hendrickson also confirmed that two people died and four were injured, but there was no fear for their lives.

However, she could not provide details as to the nature of the injuries or the age of the people who were taken to hospital.

The dispatchers received many calls from the distribution center. They reported the presence of an active shooter and said that many shots had been fired, Tehma County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Yvette Borden told CNN.

A Walmart spokesperson also confirmed to CNN that the company was aware of the situation.

“We have been informed of the situation and we are working with the authorities in the investigation. We have no additional information to give you at this time, “spokesperson Scott Pope told CNN.
