Waiting to take corona vaccine:

Vaccine skepticism is widespread in the United States, and 24 percent have stated that they will never take the vaccine, while seven percent are unsure.

According to the family, Luis Suárez and Norma Franco had been waiting to be vaccinated, and recently died after testing positive for covid-19, the local channel writes NBC 11 News.

According to the family, the couple had plans to get vaccinated in the near future, but had delayed it for a while.

They were getting married just after Thanksgiving, which is an American holiday celebrated in late November.

Instead of planning a wedding and a party, the relatives had to plan the couple’s funeral.

Separated before death

Suárez and Franco were both hospitalized with severe symptoms of the virus.

The couple was separated at the hospital because they were not married, and had no communication lately.

Both ended up in respirators and died just a week apart.

ABC Chicago writes that Franco was buried in the wedding dress she had bought, while Suarez was buried in the white suit he was to wear at the wedding.

Both wore the wedding rings they should have given each other.

– Absolutely awful

The family now chooses to tell the couple’s story to encourage others to get vaccinated.

– People are worried about side effects of the vaccine. Losing your family is absolutely horrible, and what can happen if you do not get vaccinated, says their son, Angel Santos, to the channel ABC Chicago.

Suárez’s stepdaughter says it all feels like a Romeo-and-Juliet tale.

– They were really created for each other. Just before it should happen, something so tragic happens, she says.

Great vaccine skepticism

Data from the US Infection Control Agency Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that so far 73 percent of Americans have been vaccinated with at least one dose, while 59 percent have been fully vaccinated.

Earlier this year, the Joe Biden administration launched a huge campaign to get more Americans vaccinated.

The campaign has been named «We Can Do This», And here celebrities will participate in virtual events to get especially young Americans to get vaccinated.

Skepticism in Europe

In February, the European Agency for Communicable Disease Control (ECDC) and the research group RECOVER published a report which was about the public’s view of corona vaccination in Sweden, Ukraine, Spain, Italy, Germany and France.

The figures showed that less than half of the respondents in these countries considered vaccination safe.

Several stated that they did not want to be vaccinated because they thought the vaccine was unnecessary, while other reasons for vaccine skepticism were the fear of long-term symptoms.
