Intercepting a car that is too noisy is a difficult task for the police to apply: “When you hear a roar, you often arrive too late,” regrets a Bernese police officer. But on Sunday, on the Place de la Gare in Biel, a patrol managed to intercept the driver of a Porsche.
The two agents who were patrolling on foot in a corner of the main post office had the reflex to run on the pedestrian crossing, in order to stop the swagger. “If my Porsche makes too much noise, this is the car that should be banned!” Retorted the driver. Denounced to the public prosecutor, he risks a fine of around 400 francs.
In Biel, the showers are denounced by the elected representatives of the POP. In his red plaid shirt, a candidate in the municipal elections welcomed the police intervention by the V of victory. But it was the whole terrace of the Brazil café that rose to applaud the police intervention. “This is the first time this has happened to me …”, confides a police officer.
Push the engine
Throughout the country, checks have been carried out since the beginning of April to limit the noise pollution caused by certain drivers inclined to “push the engine”. More and more noisy and probably “tuned” vehicles are being reported.
The police can confiscate “doped” vehicles. Sunday, the driver of the Porsche left with his passenger. He is determined to challenge the repression warrant that will punish the noise of his engine.
