A very rare vehicle has appeared in the armed forces of Ukraine – the VRAC disaster recovery vehicle. It is reported that only three copies were produced.

This military vehicle is built on the basis of the Spanish “Pegaso BMR APC” 6×6 wheeled armored personnel carrier. Only this vehicle has been converted for medical evacuation purposes.
It is not yet clear how this extremely rare vehicle, created in Spain, ended up in the possession of the Ukrainian armed forces.
The primary purpose of the Pegasus vehicle is to rescue people from disaster areas in extreme weather conditions.

There is a possibility that the Spanish government presented the armored personnel carrier to Ukraine, although there is no official information about this fact. There is also a possibility that the military vehicle was bought by a private benefactor and handed over to the Ukrainian forces.
Spanish “Pegaso” armored personnel carriers have been produced by “Enasa” company since 1979. The armored personnel carriers of the Spanish army played an important role in the international operations of the Spanish troops in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon.
