Volleyball DVV Cup: Can Dresden surprise Stuttgart?

The women’s volleyball cup final will take place on Sunday. Can Dresdner SC defeat Allianz MTV Stuttgart?

Dresden – The German champion lost clearly with 15:25 DSC the first set in the Bundesliga game in the penultimate table NawaRo Straubing.

But head coach Alex Waibl remained calm. Even when he took his first break after the 0:5 false start.

“Straubing attacked outstandingly. But we allowed too much at the beginning and weren’t good in defense. Then we slowly started to play a little more carefully from the defense and also had more effect with the serve,” said Waibl afterwards the game. For the DSC, who won 3-1 in the end, it was the difficult return after a three-week Corona break.

“I changed a lot so those who just came back weren’t on the field for more than thirty minutes. We’re at 70 percent as a team and individually. That’s what’s possible. That was a good day for us. We had playing experience and got three points in the end,” said Waibl with satisfaction.

The fact that Maja Storck (23) was only used in the first round was because she was slightly injured. That’s why the coach wanted to avoid any risk. This also applies to the volleyball players who were ill with Corona. On Thursday, three players completed another stress ECG.

On Saturday, the DSC will board a plane to Frankfurt/Main and continue by bus to Wiesbaden, where it will play the DVV Cup final against the undefeated Bundesliga leaders Allianz Stuttgart on Sunday.

“The starting position couldn’t be more complicated for us,” says Waibl. But at the same time adds combatively: “We have a team with heart and bite!”
