Volkswagen was present at the Expodireto Cotrijal, one of the largest agricultural events in Brazil. The exhibition will take place between March 4 and 8 in Rio Grande do Sul, where the German firm arrived with a trio of “agro” novelties.
The stars of the 350 square meter Volkswagen stand are the Saveiro, Amarok and Polo. Yes, the hatchback that is produced in Brazil was also present and did so with the greatest news, since it unveiled the Polo Robust version.
For those with a good memory, the name Robust had been used a few years ago in the so-called Concept Robust. That model gave way to what would become the Amarok truck.
Today that name is recovered for a variant of the popular compact, designed for the bad roads that can be found in the countryside.
According to the brand, the Polo Robust “is capable of tackling all types of terrain, prioritizing safety, solidity and economy.”
At the power level, it has a 1.0 MPI Flex engine that develops a maximum power of 84 HP and 101 Nm, associated with a five-speed manual transmission.

Built on the MQB platform, it is the model with the largest interior space in its category, with a wheelbase of 2.56 meters and a width of 1.75 meters.
The trunk, for its part, has a loading capacity of 300 liters, another highlight of the hatch.
On the outside, the changes can be seen in a dark color, black radiator grille and bumper, and the latter. The same shade is found on the 15” wheels.
To tackle more complex roads, the Robust alternative modifies the front and rear suspension and, in the process, offers 50 mm more ground clearance. In addition, it has two kits designed for work in the field.
- Kit 1: Offers a grille guard, vinyl seat covers, and rubber floor liners.
- Kit 2: offers rubber mat in the trunk and a tow hitch.
If there was anyone interested here, unfortunately the Polo Robust will not be sold outside of Brazil, what’s more, in the South American giant it will not be able to be seen in dealerships either, but will only be sold directly, at a price similar to the Polo Truck, the most economical of the Polo family.
