During the first six months of this year, 170,939 electric cars from the VW brands went to customers worldwide. This is an increase of 165 percent compared to the first half of 2020 (more than 64,000), when the corona crisis hit. The share of electric cars in all deliveries is now 3.4 percent.

Within the group, the Volkswagen brand sold the most electric cars (92,859), followed by Audi (32,775), Porsche (19,822), Skoda (17,697) and Seat (6,172). The most popular models were the Volkswagen ID.4, the Volkswagen ID.3 and the Audi e-tron.

Home market Europe is by far the largest (more than 128,000). This is followed by the United States and China with both more than 18,000 deliveries of electric cars.

Sales of plug-in hybrids tripled. In the past six months, 171,300 went out.
