Vlog ‘Anne Frank’ wins European internet awards

The Anne Frank video diary, which has been on YouTube since March, has won two European internet awards. The fifteen-part video series won the Silver Jury Prize and the Audience Award for Video: Entertainment and Sport at the Lovie Awards.

The Anne Frank House and Every Media made the video series bearing in mind the question of what Anne Frank would have done if she had received a modern camera instead of a diary on her thirteenth birthday.

According to the Anne Frank House, the video diary has attracted more than 6.5 million viewers worldwide since its launch. “We get a lot of positive reactions, especially from young people who connect with the girl Anne through the video diary,” says director Ronald Leopold. “Winning the Lovie Awards confirms how well the video diary is made.”

‘Anne Frank’ as influencer

In the series, viewers follow the life of Anne Frank between March 29 and August 4, 1944 – the day on which Anne was arrested by the Germans. During that period she has been in hiding for more than a year and a half with her parents, sister Margot, the Pels family and the dentist Fritz Pfeffer, who had fled from Germany. Anne films herself, talks about her feelings and reminisces about the time before going into hiding.

With the video series about Anne Frank as an influencer, the foundation hopes to reach a young target group, because young people read less, but watch a lot of online videos. “It is a new and appealing way to reach young people with the life story of Anne Frank,” said the foundation earlier.

13-year-old actress Luna Cruz Perez, who takes the role of Anne Frank, previously explained why she thinks it is such an important project:
