An organ has been donated for the first time in the world transplant from an elderly person one hundred years and the recipient patient is in good health. The case is unique in the world and occurred last week in San Juan de Dios Hospital in FlorencePisa, Italy.

The donor was a woman who died a 100 years, 10 months and 1 day. I’m liver was deemed suitable and therefore a person who was on the waiting list was transplanted. The fact is considered as a great precedent for “old age donors”.
“It was successful and the patient is in good condition; the procedure represents the culmination of years of multidisciplinary clinical work and study on the subject,” said Dr. Paul DeSimonedirector of the hospital’s liver surgery and liver transplantation unit.

The 100+ year old grandmother’s donation changed everything
